Hi, Joseph Hughett lived around Balleyhagan Ireland. I found him registered one record as attending one meeting at Balleyhagan Meeting House which is a Quaker meeting place. Some of his family goes by Hewitt which is a British way of spelling it but he did go by Hughett. ughett is one of the oldest ways of spelling the name it goes back over 1000 years or more. Even when people didn't use a last name or used their profession for their name the Hughetts always carried their last name. If their was five sons one may be called Hughett, one Huguet, one hugue, one Hughet and one maybe just called Hugh. King Hugh of Jerusalem actually spelled his name Hughet. The Templars first where all Hughett or related to Hughetts. Hugh de Payne was also a Hughett. I live in Panama and the spanish people will always misspell my name even if they are looking at it they will write down Hugue or Huguet.

: I'm looking for infomation regarding Joseph Hughett. He was born around 1690 in Ireland. Had three sons Joseph, John, and George. He Migrated to the United States in early 1700's. After research I believe his original name was Hughes, then changed it to Hughett. Any help would be appreciated.
