    : trying to trace my grandfather,christy o'toole,born 1895,bagnelstown,county carlow,married mary cairns

    Christie O'Toole 1911 census:
House 16 Barrett Street, Bagenalstown, Carlow

Christie is 14 and a scholar.
Parents are John, 66, general labourer from Carlow and Mary, 50 from Carlow.
Neither parents can read or write. They are married 30 years, had 13 children, 8 of which are alive at this time.

The 1901 census is slightly conflicting:
Christopher is listed as 7 years of age.

    Other children are:
    Maryanne 17
    John 13
    Patrick 10
    Thomas 2

The address is House 32 Tullowbeg, Carlow

Mary is 42 and John 44

Unfortunately, people tend to make up their ages a lot in the census and parents ages vary wildly.

In house 16 Tullowbeg there lived a brother and sister..
    Laurence 21 agricultural labourer
    Ellen 23 housekeeper..

I presume these are other children.

An Ellen Toole was born in Bagenalstown, Carlow on March 15 1876 to John Toole and Mary Mullins.

This is most likely the parents of Christy.

A Michael Toole was born to the same parents 19 Sep 1879
