I have found evidence of second baptisms of several of my Ancestors in Dublin during the 19th century when they were aged 6-7. Obviously, switching religion would explain this, but both the first and the second baptisms are in the Church of Ireland. Baptisms are a one-off - you cannot officially be baptised twice in the Church of Ireland. Is it possible that the parents were subscribing to different religious trends informally recognised as being within the CoI? I am wondering if anyone has an explanation.
