: My gr-grandfather was James Walsh of Clashmealcon Causeway Kerry. He married an Ellen McCarthy and they had 7 chn, my grandfather David Walsh being one, born 1911. Seeking info on James and Ellen. Many thanks, Clare.
Dave was my uncle and visited his home in Clashmealcon in 1971 and stayed in the house he was born in. My Dad was Michael the youngest of the 3 brothers and he inherited the farm. His other brother was was John Walsh and he lived in Wales. He served with the British army in WW2 and Dave I understand was in the RAF and later emigrated to Australia. There were 5 sisters, Maye who married Pat Quille from Causeway. They lived in London and had two children. Eileen was a nurse and worked in Highgate Hospital in London. Hannah and Peggy lived in Dublin. Hannah married a Dublin man George Grafton and Peggy married MIchael O'Connorr from Listowel. Bridie married a local farmer but had no children. My Dad died in 2007 and all his sisters and brothers have now died. I have two brothers, Jim a prefessor in NUIM Maynooth University. JIm is married to Jeanne and they have 4 children, Patrick, Cormac, Fergal and Fionnula Michael a retired policeman farms the land in Clashmealcon but does not communicate with any of his siblings. His twin sister Tess, is married close by to Maurice Walsh and they have two teenage children. Ellen lives in Kildare and is married to Fintan Brett from Mayo. They have 4 chhildren, 3 are married and they have 6 grandchildren. I am married to Dolores and we have a boy Colin age 26 and Sarah age 22. We live in Galway.
THe McCathy side of your gradfather family are neary all gone now. Just three alive all in their 80's. The only McCarthy man alive is Paddy who is my godfather. My Dad was an exceptional Irish Step dancer and so was his cousin Johnny McCarthy. I have great memories of the McCarthy's visiting our house. I remenber your great grand dads brother and sister Bill and Kate.
John Walsh, his wife Elle, my grandfather, his wife and my parents are all buried in a tomb in Killury cemertry, Causeway.
